For Your Tax Debts, There's Mastercard

At a glance: - The Tax Office has recently announced a new method of payment that taxpayers can use to settle their tax debts.
You should: - Be aware that you can now pay your tax liabilities by credit card.
- Contact us if you require any clarification or advice.
1. The Tax Office is now trialling payment by credit card for all taxation liabilities using Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit cards.
 
2. A card payment fee will apply to transactions made using this service. The fee is the non-GST component of the fee the Australian Taxation Office incurs from its banker for these transactions.
 
3. The Tax Office will charge a credit card transaction fee of 0.67% for Visa/Mastercard and 1.02% for American Express.
 
4. Taxpayers can use their credit cards to pay for tax liabilities between $10 and $10,000.
 
5. To make a credit card payment you will need to access GovernmentEasyPay on the Tax Office website.
