There have been a number of changes to tax law which will affect a range of taxpayers.

The first change is the removal of the baby bonus which will no longer be available for the 2009-10 and future years. Taxpayers who have yet to make a claim relating to an earlier period will be able to do so up until June 30, 2014.

Same sex couples will now be able to get access to the same tax concessions available to heterosexual couples in a de facto relationship.
