1.	According to the Treasurer, Australia has come through the Global economic crisis in a better position than many other developed nations.
2.	The Treasurer believes that there are still many challenges ahead such as an ageing population and improvements to the health system.
3.	He is encouraging all taxpayers to make a submission as to how they wish to have these issues resolved.
4.	Submissions should be mindful of the impact of the global recession on government revenues, as well as the Federal Government goal of fiscal discipline.
5.	In order to allow ideas to feed into the budget process, taxpayers who wish to make a submission should lodge their ideas before January 29, 2010.
