The Superannuation Legislation Amendment (Early Release of Superannuation) Act (Cth) (Act) received Royal Assent as Act No. 108 of 2011 on 14 October 2011 after passing the House of Representatives and the Senate without amendment. The date of proclamation has been fixed as 1 November 2011.

The Act amends the Retirement Savings Accounts Act 1997 (Cth) and the Superannuation Industry Supervision Act 1993 (Cth) to transfer responsibility for the administration of the early release of superannuation on compassionate grounds from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority to Medicare Australia.
