Financial Difficulties- The ATO can help

At a glance:	- The Tax Office has announced that assistance will be offered to taxpayers who are, through personal circumstances, unable to lodge their tax returns or pay tax obligations this tax season.
You should:	- Be aware of the assistance being offered by the Tax Office. - Contact us if you require any clarification or advice.

1.	With the end of financial year fast approaching, taxpayers are reminded that should they face circumstances preventing them from meeting their tax obligations they will be able to seek assistance from the Tax Office.
2.	Taxpayers who feel they will be unable to lodge their tax returns by the due date are encouraged to call the Tax Office as soon as possible to seek an extension.
3.	Taxpayers who will be unable to pay their tax liabilities on time are encouraged to contact the Tax Office before payment is due and the Tax Office may assist them by: - Extending the time allowed to make payment; - Remitting any interest charges on tax debts; and - Releasing certain tax obligations from the taxpayers.
4.	There are also a number of support services conducted by the Tax Office including: - A vast database of information on the Tax Office website; - Assistance over the phone; and - Various seminars and workshops conducted over the year.
